(8-Bit) Mr.Roboto

"Pretty good, kind of 'tame' though."

submission: (8-Bit) Mr.Roboto
date: February 25, 2009

Ha, interesting percussion. :) For an 8-bit song this could have used a little more impact, seeing as the original song is pretty loud and 8-bit samples can sound pretty raw (ex. Commodore 64).

The extra notes at 00:40 sound like a car horn or something, doesn't mix in too well I think.

Other than this, an accurate and nice little reproduction of Mr Roboto. :)

Author's Response:

To be honest I did not notice 00:40 seconds I was rushing to get this done, I used the programs default music "set" if you will I was having a hard time choosing between square or triangle.

Thank you very much for the review.

(8-Bit) Lemon Tree

"Decent, could use a bit of improvement."

submission: (8-Bit) Lemon Tree
date: February 25, 2009

Let's see... Sounds pretty nice, but the different rhythm of the main "instrument" doesn't really work with the rest. Might want to leave those little inbetween "skips" out for that instrument. Hope you know what I mean... Also, it starts a bit slow and some of the instruments are not all THAT 8-bit like (or at least not console-like 8-bit).

The song is generally well-constructed and pretty accurate to the original. 7/10.

February 25, 2009

Author's Response:

I did notice the rhythm was off for at least the main "instrument" that can be much improved. And it was programs default again like Mr. Roboto, I'll be sure to chose square or triangle sounds next time.

Keep the reviews coming I always welcome some one who is a critic of 8-bit, thanks for the review

"Funkay!"

date: February 24, 2009

Hell yes. THIS is funky stuff. :) Watch out not too loop it too much though, no matter how good a tune sounds, it'll get boring quick if it's too repetitive.

u are definitely right sir.

!/Dreaming of You\!

"Calm and well-done"

date: February 24, 2009

Calm and nice. Hey, this works pretty well, I like it. Just watch out for distortion... there was a slight bit of it in when the strings mix, and it can cause a minor distraction or annoyance. Could have turned the piano's up a tiiny bit.

Well done, you get a 9 from me. :)

His World (Remix)

"Quite nice."

submission: His World (Remix)
date: February 24, 2009

Polished and well-made. Varies enough not to get boring quickly. I have no idea how true it is to the original, but this is overall a well-made song. :)
One thing though: slight distortion in the percussion, ah well, can't be helped with so many instruments I guess.

my new mp3 and midi remix

"Interesting!"

date: February 24, 2009

Wow... interesting style. You mostly replaced the MIDI's instruments, right? It gives a nice/weird effect, but I rather like listening to it... A 7 for yous.

(Illusions)

"WAY repetitive. And loops."

submission: (Illusions)
date: July 25, 2007

The loops annoyed the hell outta me, they always did. It's just an easy way out, even if you made the loops yourself.
Unfortunately... The loops made the song way repetitive, too. Should've put more time in the song's structure.
The hihat sounds in the middle of the song were also completely off-rhytm.

The instrumentation chosen was ok, though, but not much else.

Crashing Machines

"Nice ambience."

submission: Crashing Machines
date: July 2, 2007

More ambience than actual music. This would work great in a game, maybe an underwater level of an FPS, or something like that.

There's generally not a lot going on, though. You might want to try and make some more filled up music next time.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the great advice :D
I will see if i try that for my next song, probably yes.

Discovering a new world

"Pretty good. Gameish."

date: July 2, 2007

Hmmm... You know, this makes for a great selection screen in games, or stuff like that. Pretty backgroundish, good tune, and an overall relaxed theme.

I think adding and holding a few simple synth chords to the song after a while would work well.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the feedback :)
Some simple synth chords.... interesting idea!

Wooden Fountain

"Starts out ok, then turns to rampage."

submission: Wooden Fountain
date: January 1, 2007

It starts out good. But then it repeats WAY too much, which makes it boring.
After a while, you start adding more instruments, but at tone height which make the whole song sound dissonant, and actually annoying.

You're starting to learn, though. The melody is better than what you used to do. 4 for you.

Author's Response:

Yes, i 'm now making songs with more different melody's.
Thanks for the review.;)
